June 21st, the official first day of summer, is fast approaching. We’ve just put two winters behind us (safe to say actual winter in the U.S. is done and Game of Thrones is over).
When temperatures go up, the amount of clothing worn goes down. So, people tend to draw more attention to how they look and end up making changes to their lifestyle in pursuit of that “beach body.”
Why get serious for only for one season, though? (Not looking at you Miami, or San Diego, with your eternal summers).
The benefits of a (sustainable) body transformation go far beyond how you look. How your body is able to function in day-to-day life, particularly at work, is way more important than laying out in the sun.
Increased energy, laser-focus, and the ability to make better decisions with a well-fueled and fog-less brain lead to a more productive you. Which means a more valuable you, thus increasing your earning power.
You can’t really capture these benefits on a resume or LinkedIn profile directly, but that series of projects delivered, new deals closed, operational efficiencies gained, etc. are the lagging indicators of your best self.
Regardless of the season, invest in the most important asset you possess: you.
