Making new habits can be hard. Only until they become a routine, and then they just happen.
When you first learn to drive a car, the habit of checking your mirrors regularly may not have been natural. Now you just constantly do it as you drive along. Well, most people do - some drivers I see on the road don’t seem to realize their car has mirrors.
Think about some of your daily habits that just happen. Even something like brushing your teeth daily didn’t come naturally. Your parents had to remind you (maybe even fight with you) every night to make sure you would brush.
If you were to look back to how you were before those routines, it’s laughable to think you didn’t do them regularly.
Same goes for your lifestyle habits of taking better care of yourself. There are 5 key ones to be exact: Mindfulness - Hydration - Sleep - Nutrition - Fitness.
At first, that might seem like too many things to think and act on daily.
Start new habits in each of the 5 areas to do daily. Even just being aware of when you skip a day (and that will happen) is a form of practicing the habit.
Challenge yourself to set today as that laughable moment.
