But you are unique.
Everyone’s got special circumstances.
There are priorities that are yours and nobody else’s.
You have a lot of shit to get done.
Welcome to the party and please take a seat next to everybody else.
Yes, that all sounds a bit harsh - but it’s the truth.
So, here’s your chance to be unique.
Now’s the time to stop letting that “specialness” get in the way of improving your health, career, relationships, or whatever else is important yet neglected in your life.
Supplements - they can be your best friend or your wallet’s worst enemy.
This post is not about what supplements to use and which ones are useless.
Maybe some other time I will write about them, but if you need some suggestions Google will provide you with about 282,000,000 results in a mere1.46 seconds.
It’s easy to get carried away with supplements though.
Hitting your targets for protein, vitamins & minerals, and fruits & veggies among other things can be tough to do on a daily basis.
For pretty much anything your body needs there is a pill, powder, bar, or liquid form of it.
Just keep in mind that they are called “supplements” and not “replacements.”
Nothing will ever replace good ol’ fashioned whole foods.
In addition to the macro and micro-nutrients we know about, whole foods can contain water, fiber, and other elements we don’t actually understand just yet but our bodies have evolved to thrive on over the past 200,000 years.
Perhaps in another 200,000 years our bodies will have evolved to accept our daily nutrition from pills & powders like in a futuristic sci-fi movie.
But for you reading this now, not today nor any point in your lifetime.
I was doing my daily meditation the other day using the app "Headspace."
Each day has a unique message and this time it was that whether we think we are the best in the world or the worst in the world, both are a concept of the mind.
Neither have any objective standing or truth.
They are just “stories” in the mind that are not much different from each other.
That's because they are both created by the ego, rather than a reflection of what really is.
In order to truly experience peace of mind, you need to let go of that ego, regardless of its perspective of best vs. worst.
The only thing that truly matters is simply the moment you are in.
That’s what you can control.
There will always be another “best” or “worst” version of you in the future, so how you classify yourself right now does not matter since it’s just a concept that will soon fade.
This approach to daily living is why I put mindfulness as #1 in the daily habits for the GetFitFormula.

The latest episode of the MFCEO Podcast dropped this line I can’t stop thinking about:
“The happiest I am is after the hardest I work.”
There are many times where I don’t feel like doing a workout, or an extra hour of work, but every time I do it anyways I feel amazing afterwards.
You’ve been in that same position before and remember what it feels like.
It might feel good in the moment to just skip it, but that feeling is just like fool’s gold.
The next time you are facing a hard challenge in front of you ignore the urge for the instant (fake) gratification and focus on how you’re going to feel afterwards.
Labor Day sure is a bittersweet holiday.
It signals that summer is coming to an end.
I guess if you like to ski or snowboard that might not be a bad thing.
But, the weather is usually still great for a well-deserved long weekend for all to enjoy.
Labor Day is to honor the contributions workers have made to the success and prosperity of the United States.
Basically, it’s the ultimate day to “take a break.”
Keep in mind though that when you take a break from something you’ve been working hard towards, so will the results.
Just one day probably won’t hurt too much but it’s also one less day of progress.
It’s these types of days when you feel like you “earned” a day off or just “don’t feel like it” that are the MOST important days for moving the ball forward.
So, honor yourself on this Labor Day with a little bit of extra work for whatever the most important goal in your life happens to be
